Soil analyzer
A benchtop optical measurement setup built around adjustability: precision stages, translating lens barrels, and a rotatable soil capsule.

The Soil Analyzer is a benchtop optical measurement setup. Soil samples go into a dedicated capsule. A light source illuminates the sample through an optical window, an optical power meter reads the measurement-path intensity, and residual light is sent into a beam dump so it cannot return to the detector path and contaminate the signal.

I developed the complete optomechanical assembly and was responsible for the mechanical components and lens positioning. Because it is a bench setup rather than a fixed instrument, adjustability was fundamental: components sit on precision stages, lens barrels translate for focus, and the soil capsule can be rotated and repositioned with control. The result is a flexible experimental platform that tolerates setup changes while holding precise optical alignment.
